Too Big To Fail? Does Size Matter When Choosing a Geothermal Partner?

It is often assumed that the bigger the company, the greater the chance of success. But does this apply to Geothermal as well? Does working with a bigger company ensure that a borefield will be installed properly and last the life of the building?

Not necessarily. Although it’s natural to assume that success and size of a company are related, that is not always the case.

Instead, it’s necessary to consider these three things:

  1. Whether the company’s primary focus is installing and managing Geothermal systems.

  2. How long the company has been installing and managing Geothermal systems for.

  3. Whether the company has experience managing multiple projects at once.

Although there are many companies who claim they can install Geothermal systems, it may not be their primary focus. If so, the next thing to consider is the strength and experience of their Geothermal team.

The experience obtained from installing many borefields is an important aspect, as it is an indicator of experience. It can take years of experience  to fully understand how to design a borefield to be fully integrated with the building and understand how to make sure it functions perfectly for a long time. We  Diverso Energy uncovered what you need to consider when selecting a partner in our 2-minute read, “Who is an Expert?”. Check it out here.

Finally, being able to manage multiple Geothermal projects is obviously very crucial to ensure that projects are not unnecessarily delayed. How many drill rigs the company has access to, as well as a track record for working on many projects at once is something to consider.

When it comes down to it, choosing a Geothermal partner is all about finding the right fit for your project. Talk to one of our experts to help you decide if Geothermal is right for you.
